War pension eligibility for support for mortgage interest

Currently waiting for a response from Department for Work and Pensions, they must respond promptly and normally no later than (details).

Graeme MacDonald

Dear Department for
A benefit claimant who is in receipt of employment and support allowance in the support group and also receiving support for mortgage interest at a rate of £38.59 a week.
The claimant is then informed he has been awarded a disablement war pension of £42 a week (the first £10 being disregarded by the DWP ) . Would the support for mortgage interest payment which is made direct to the lender be affected by the awarded war pension . I am aware the rules are changing for SMI please base your response on the SMI rules before the new rules are due to be enforced . Thank you.

Kind regards
Graeme MacDonald
