Freedom of Information Act request - 2010/4140 - Looked after children

Dear Ms Target,

I refer to your request for information relating to looked after children,
which we received on 15^th December 2010.

In order to process your request we would require you to reduce the scope
as it will take in excess of 18 hours to identify the detailed information
relevant to looked after children. The data is not held in a readily
available format and would require a member of staff to individually check
every child’s folder. For the four year period of your request this would
require investigation of approximately 1000 children’s files. It may be
possible to provide the data for 2010 within the appropriate limit,
however there is no guarantee that all of your questions will be met.

In accordance with the provisions defined under section 12 of the Freedom
of Information Act 2000 we are unable to supply the information requested
as the process of identifying, locating, retrieving and, where
appropriate, extracting the information would significantly exceed the
appropriate limit as defined by the Freedom of Information and Data
Protection (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004.
