Richard Parnham

Dear Oxfordshire County Council,

The experimental closure of Walton Street to motor vehicles will soon expire. Please provide me with the most recent evaluation of the impact of the road closure, even if not yet in the public domain. I am particularly interested in any report that has evaluated the impact on the road closure on local pollution and traffic levels in surrounding streets. If no unpublished evaluation has yet been undertaken, please confirm this also.

Please also provide me any evaluation of pending plans regarding Walton Street, such as those discussed in today's Oxford Mail (4 March 2021). I am particularly interested to know about any evaluation of the likely impact on these plans in relation to local pollution and traffic levels, and also how the scheme would interact with other nearby planned road schemes - noticeably the planned Zero Emission Zone extension and / or bus gate plans around Worcester Street. If no evaluation of the pending plans have been produced, I would be be content to receive the evaluation criteria for any future evaluation, including in draft form. If no evaluation criteria have yet been devised, please confirm this also.

Yours faithfully,

Richard Parnham

Dear Mr Parnham,

Thank you for your request of 04 March 2021 in which you asked for the
following information.  Please find our response below in bold:

o The experimental closure of Walton Street to motor vehicles will soon
expire. Please provide me with the most recent evaluation of the
impact of the road closure, even if not yet in the public domain. I am
particularly interested in any report that has evaluated the impact on
the road closure on local pollution and traffic levels in surrounding
streets. If no unpublished evaluation has yet been undertaken, please
confirm this also.

Please find attached report titled ‘Walton Street Traffic Monitoring
Reports – Feb 2020.pdf’ which was compiled following traffic surveying in
the Jericho/ Walton Manor area in January 2020.

o Please also provide me any evaluation of pending plans regarding
Walton Street, such as those discussed in today's Oxford Mail (4 March
2021).

Oxfordshire County Council does not hold this information, no evaluation
of any pending plans has been completed.

o I am particularly interested to know about any evaluation of the
likely impact on these plans in relation to local pollution and
traffic levels, and also how the scheme would interact with other
nearby planned road schemes - noticeably the planned Zero Emission
Zone extension and / or bus gate plans around Worcester Street. If no

to receive the evaluation criteria for any future evaluation,
including in draft form. If no evaluation criteria have yet been
devised, please confirm this also.

No evaluation has been completed; the full extent of any evaluation of
proposed measures has not been finalised.  Should a scheme be implemented,
the  evaluation would be expected to comprise a mixture of traffic surveys
and questionnaires.
