Waiting times for Brackenburn's gender clinic services
Dear Belfast Health and Social Care Trust (Northern Ireland),
I am writing to request information under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act (2000). My enquiries relate to the Brackenburn Clinic’s Regional Gender Identity Service for adults, as well as the Knowing Our Identity service for under 18s.
1. Referrals to the Regional Gender Identity Service
a. Is this clinic currently accepting new referrals?
b. Are initial assessment appointments (face-to-face or remote) currently being offered to patients on the waiting list?
c. On average, for how long have patients currently being offered an initial appointment been on the waiting list?
d. On average, how far in the future are initial appointments being offered?
e. What is the current longest wait time of any patient on your waiting list?
f. If you do not hold waiting list data in a format that allows you to answer the above questions, please can you provide any data or reports you do currently hold on wait times.

Dear Clark,
Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, a number of items in your response were not addressing the questions asked, in particular:
1. c. I asked for an average wait, but you gave a maximum.
2. b. You stated that initial assessments are available either via phone or face-to-face, but failed to state whether they are currently being offered.
2. c. Again, I asked for an average wait, but you gave a maximum.
Are you able to clarify whether the Knowing Our Identity clinic is currently offering initial assessments? Secondly, are you able to provide average wait times for either of these services?
Yours sincerely,
Jennifer Hackett
Dear Ms Hackett
In reference to your questions below.
2. b. You stated that initial assessments are available either via phone
or face-to-face, but failed to state whether they are currently being
offered.
Response: Yes, the Trust is offering phone/video assessments and, where
clinically essential, face-to-face.
1. c. I asked for an average wait, but you gave a maximum.
2. c. Again, I asked for an average wait, but you gave a maximum.
Response: The information requested is not held by either Gender Identity
or KOI. Information as held (longest waiting times) has been released
under your advice: f. If you do not hold waiting list data in a format
that allows you to answer the above questions, please can you provide any
data or reports you do currently hold on wait times.
I hope this is helpful.
Many thanks
Clark
