Waiting time for mental health

Matt Streuli made this Freedom of Information request to NHS England

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear NHS England,

I am writing to enquire, under the Freedom of Information Act, what the current average waiting time is from referral to the start of treatment for each area or region of England for Mental Health conditions only.

I would also be interested if you had the same average waiting time for mental health treatment information for previous years and/or months as a comparison.

Yours faithfully,

Matthew Streuli

FOI England (NHS ENGLAND), NHS England

Dear Mr Streuli,

Re:      Freedom of Information request (Our Ref: FOI-010441)

Thank you for your Freedom of Information (FOI) request dated 11 April
2016.

Your exact request was:-

‘I am writing to enquire, under the Freedom of Information Act, what the
current average waiting time is from referral to the start of treatment
for each area or region of England for Mental Health conditions only.

I would also be interested if you had the same average waiting time for
mental health treatment information for previous years and/or months as a
comparison.’

NHS England does not hold this information. It may help if I explain that
while NHS England commissions some specialised mental health services,
other mental health services are commissioned by CCGs. However, I can
advise that mental health statistics are centrally collated by the Health
and Social Care information Centre (HSCIC). The Mental Health Services
Data Set is available at the following link:

If you are unable to find the information you are seeking here, please
find a link to contact details for HSCIC should you wish to resubmit your
request to them:

I hope this information is helpful. However, if you are dissatisfied, you
have the right to ask for an internal review by writing to us, within two
months of the date of this letter, to:
