Dear Ms Bushill,

We have completed the compilation of information in response to your
request.

We can confirm that we do hold the information specified in your request.
Our response is given below.

As of the 2^nd of October 2017 there were 71 students* registered as
commuting while on the waiting list for Halls Accommodation or looking for
suitable private accommodation.

As of the 2^nd of October 2017 there were 85 students** in hotels who were
either on the waiting list for Halls Accommodation or looking for suitable
private accommodation.

Supplementary Information:

*Students on the commute waiting list rarely update us when their
situation changes, for example if they defer or find private accommodation
and therefore no longer need to be on the list. As a result, the number of
students on this list that are actively still awaiting Halls Accommodation
is likely to be lower.

**This number has reduced since the stated date; as of 12/10/17 there are
57 students in this position.

No students on either the commute or hotel lists were guaranteed
accommodation (please see below the publicised Accommodation Guarantee) at
the time of their offer to study at the University of Reading.

2017/18 Accommodation Guarantee:
Students are guaranteed a place in hall if they are:
A new full-time undergraduate who holds Reading as a Firm UCAS
choice and applies for accommodation by 1 August** and satisfies any
conditions of your academic offer by 31 August of your year of entry*
A new full-time postgraduate who has accepted an offer from the
University and applies for accommodation by 1 August** and satisfies any
conditions of your academic offer by 31 August of your year of entry*
*Subject to restrictions, please see the [1]Accommodation Policy (PDF –
67kb) and [2]Accommodation Application Terms and Conditions (PDF – 170kb)
