I am writing to request information under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act (2000). My enquiries related to the National Referral Support Service for the NHS Gender Incongruence Service for Children and Young People.

1. How many children and young people are currently being held on the NHS England Arden and GEM CSU national waiting list for NHS Gender Incongruence Services for Children and Young People as of 27th April 2024?

2. How many patients currently held on the Arden and GEM CSU national waiting list for NHS Gender Incongruence Services for Children and Young People have been waiting for longer than
a) 230 weeks
b) 200 weeks
c) 150 weeks
d) 100 weeks

since their referral was accepted? If it is not possible to supply the information in this format within the available budget for processing FOIs, please instead supply any information you hold about the distribution of wait times.

3. As of 27th April 2024, what is the earliest date that an individual currently being held on the Arden and GEM CSU national waiting list for NHS Gender Incongruence Services for Children and Young People had their referral accepted?

Decision

NHS England holds the information you have requested and has decided to
release all of the information that it holds.

For ease of reference, we will respond to each of your queries in turn,
noting that figures are current as of 30 April 2024.

1. The number of children and young people being held on the Arden and GEM
Commissioning Support Unit (AGEM CSU) national waiting list for gender
dysphoria services for the reporting month of 30 April 2024 was 5,676.

2. The number of children and young people on the national waiting list
for gender dysphoria services by weeks is below and reflects the
referral-to-treatment (RTT) reporting standards/timeframes used by AGEM
CSU:

 a. 260 weeks and over - 43
 b. 208 weeks and over - 358
 c. 156 weeks and over - 880
 d. 104 weeks and over - 2,289

3. The earliest referral date is August 2018.

4. The median wait time is 89 weeks of patients who are on the waiting
list at the end of the reporting period, inclusive of longest and shortest
waits
