This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear The National Gallery,

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act.

Could you please supply me with information regarding the visitors'
flow in the Gallery?

Here's the information I need:

- the number of museum's visitors hour per hour (a sample of two months'
data will be enough, any months of year 2014);
- number of museum's visitors per day (a sample of three-four months' data will be enough, any months of year 2014).

No personal information needed, just the number of visitors per hour/per day.

I would be grateful if you could supply this information in the form of Excel file.

Yours faithfully,

Yana Beliakova

Dear Ms Beliakova,

Thank you for your request for information under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 which was received on 21 May 2015. You asked that we
provide you with:

the number of museum's visitors per hour (a sample of two months' data
will be enough, any months of year 2014);

number of museum's visitors per day (a sample of three-four months' data
will be enough, any months of year 2014).

I will respond to your two points in turn.

The National Gallery does not keep a record of hourly visitor numbers, we
therefore do not hold any information to release.

The National Gallery maintains a record of daily visitor numbers. I have
attached to this email an Excel spreadsheet recording visitor numbers for
January-April 2014. The information records visitors entering the Gallery
through the various different entrances. The daily totals are presented in
columns K and R.

If you are unhappy with the way the National Gallery has handled your
request you may ask for an internal review, by writing to:  Susan Foister,
Deputy Director, The National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, London, WC2N 5DN.

If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review, you have
the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a
decision.  The Information Commissioner can be contacted at:  Information
Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9
5AF.

If you have any queries about this email, please do not hesitate to
contact me.

Yours sincerely,

Richard Wragg
