To whom this may concern
I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act. In order to assist you with this request, I am outlining my query as specifically as possible.
I would like you to provide a response to the following questions:
1. How many cases involving violence against a person in 2014 have not been pursued because the victim was under the influence of alcohol?
a. Is this higher or lower than in 2013 and by how much?
2. How many cases involving sexual offences have not been pursued in 2014 on the ground that or which included the ground that the victim was under the influence of alcohol?
a. Is this higher or lower than in 2013 and by how much?
My preferred format to receive this information is in email format.

Should you determine that my request is not clear enough, then please email and advise me on how it can be best rephrased and resubmitted.
If my request is denied, I ask that you justify this with reference to specific exemptions of the Act. I reserve the right to appeal your decision to withhold any information or to charge excessive fees.
I would be grateful if you could confirm in writing that you have received this request. I look forward to your response within 20 working days, as outlined by the statute.

Thank you for your request for information dated 30^th January  2016
concerning violence & sexual offences.

 

Dyfed-Powys Police acknowledge receipt of your request which is being
processed under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 however, prior to
processing the request please would you clarify the following points:

 

1)    By “cases” do you mean recorded crimes?

2)    Please would you be more specific re: “violence against the person”
offences? Which offences are you specifically referring to?

 

After receiving the clarification, your request will then be considered and you
will receive a response within the statutory timescale of 20 working days as
defined by the Freedom of Information Act 2000, subject to the information not
being exempt or containing a reference to a third party. If we do not receive
clarification from you within 20 working days, then your request will be closed.

 

There may be a fee payable for the retrieval, collation and provision of the
information you request. If this is the case you will be informed and the 20
working day timescale will be suspended until we receive payment from you. If
you chose not to make a payment then your request will remain unanswered.

I may have already responded to this. If not then -

Yes, by 'cases' I mean 'recorded crimes'

RE violence against a person, this refers to a reported crime where violence has been inflicted upon an individual. I am unable to define further.

Dear Mr Lawrence,

Thank you for your e-mail dated 4^th March 2016 (below), providing
clarification in relation to your request for information dated 30^th
January 2016 concerning violence and sexual offences.

 

In our request for clarification dated 2^nd February 2016, we advised that
if we did not receive clarification from you within 20 working days, then
your request will be closed. Your clarification was forwarded to us on
4^th March 2016 but unfortunately, the 20 day deadline had elapsed on 1^st
March 2016 and your request was subsequently closed on 2^nd March 2016. 

 

Please would you let us know whether you would still like us to process
your request?  If so, please be advised that it will be recorded as a new
request and will therefore attract a new reference number and a revised
deadline date.
