Viable & Good Quality Alternatives for Respite Care - Evidence

Waiting for an internal review by Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council of their handling of this request.

Dear Wirral Borough Council,
Please provide me with the detailed supporting evidence that enabled Howard Cooper to say in the Wirral News on 9 February 2011: "We believe there are viable and good quality alternatives for respite care for both people with learning difficulties and people with mental health issues".

For each provider I would like to have detailed numbers of beds and the type of respite provision (learning disability, mental health, emergency and residential).

Yours faithfully,

Mr Donaldson

Good Afternoon,
Thank you for your recent request for information shown below. I
apologise that you have had to wait for a response. I have spoken with
Officers in DASS today and I will be able to send you a full response to
your enquiry next week; when key personnel have returned from leave. I
hope this is acceptable to you and I appreciate your patience in this
matter.

How could they NOT HAVE this information? Surely they have a record of who they've given the contracts to!?!

Dear Jane,
Just a reminder that you promised me a reply in early May. It is now late May and I would be grateful for an immediate response.

Yours sincerely,

Brian

Dear Wirral Borough Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Wirral Borough Council's handling of my FOI request 'Viable & Good Quality Alternatives for Respite Care - Evidence'.

The response is long overdue and by law I should have received a reply by now.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address:

Yours faithfully,

Mr Donaldson

Good Morning,
I apologise that there has been a delay in responding to your enquiry.

A new administrative procedure for Freedom of Information requests has
now been agreed and put in place within Department of Adult Social Care
(DASS).

DASS have recently undergone a restructuring of staffing and were part
of the early voluntary redundancy exercise, across the Council. There
has also been a physical move of large numbers of DASS staff into
different office accommodation. These major changes have all impacted
on the ability to answer some queries as quickly as DASS would have
liked.

The Council believes this review of the processes and the agreement of
new procedures will assist DASS employees in the speedier resolution of
responding to FOI requests. We are working on your enquiry and aim to
answer it shortly. I thank you for your patience in this matter.
Kind Regards
Jane Corrin
