Dear Ministry of Justice,

I would like the MoJ to disclose all recorded information it holds regardsing Vera Baird, Northumbria Police Crime commissioner, being investigated by MoJ after awarding her own charity half a million pounds of taxpayers’ cash.

The case was reported in the press as follows;

Crime tsar investigated after she awarded half a million pounds to her own charity:
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/cri...

Newcastle crime commissioner investigated after awarding own charity with taxpayers' cash: http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/nort...

It was reported; A Ministry of Justice source said officials would be making inquiries to ascertain whether conflict of interest rules had been broken.

I would also like;

1. Copies of original e-mails, letters, all other correspondence between PCC Baird, MoJ, Northumbria Police, all other persons and third parties, copies of all complaints, all records, notes (including telephone notes), all minutes of meetings (including those which relate to all investigations ,inquiries) which relate to this request.

2. Copies of all original reports, findings by MoJ or others acting on their behalf. All recorded information which relates to this request.

I am not requesting any personal information. The request relates to the Northumbria Police Crime Commission while in public office. There is also a public interest. The case relates to public funds of £500,000.00 or more. I expect the MoJ to be open and transparent when dealing with such matters.

Yours faithfully,

Martin McGartland

Dear Ms Corbett,

You have said; "The MoJ does not hold any information in the scope of your request. This is because Vera Baird was not investigated by the MoJ in connection with the setting up of the charity ‘Victim First Northumbria".

My request was concerning the newspaper reports which claimed that Vera Baird was being investigated after awarding own charity half a million pounds of taxpayers’ cash.

I would like MoJ to deal with my request.

Yours sincerely,

Martin McGartland

Hello

Many thanks for providing feedback as part of the sense-checking phase of
the work to develop a consistent set of outputs and outcome indicators.

Your input is greatly appreciated by the MoJ. There has been some
confusion in relation to which outcomes will be requested for victims of
crime. Please note that for each victim, service providers would only be
expected to report on those outcomes that were relevant to that victim’s
needs and service provided, and not on any outcomes that were not relevant
to the victims needs or service provided. E.g. If a victim was identified
as having needs relating to their finances and benefits and their social
interactions, then the service provider would only be expected to report
outcomes on ‘Finance & Benefits’, ‘Social Interaction’ and ‘General CJS’
for that victim, and none of the remaining categories of need.

If you wish to reconsider your feedback or add to it as a result of any
miss-understanding please can you send any returns back to me by close
Friday 15 September.

If you have any further questions then do get in touch.

Kind regards
