Velo South - 23rd September 2018
Dear Sussex Police,
Please provide any and all communication between Sussex Police with West Sussex County Council & or district/borough/unitary authorities and the Organisers as regards Velo South which is due to take place on September 23rd 2018 and have significant impact to the ability for Sussex Police to deliver their purpose "is to uphold the law fairly and firmly; to prevent crime; to pursue and bring to justice those who break the law; and to keep the Queen's Peace; to protect, help and reassure the community; and to be seen to do all this with integrity, common sense and sound judgement."
It is clear that the proposed road closures, which create an isolation of many rural communities, in some cases for the whole of a day - will have impact on the capability of any emergency service to serve the public. Please share any details of any additional policing requirements that are required due to the size & scale of the event (15,000+ cyclists + their family/spectators etc, vehicles).
Lastly, please advise what payment has been received, or is due to be received, by Sussex Police from the organisers of Velo South.
Yours faithfully,
Matt Alsbury-Morris
