Freedom of Information, Scottish Borders Health and Social Care Partnership

Dear Georgios Christodoulou

Further to your request for information under the Freedom of Information
(Scotland) Act 2002 relating to the above I am now able to respond.

The following response was prepared and provided on behalf of Social Work
& Integration.

The Council do not hold reports as such about the benefits of eating a
Vegan diet that is available to the public.   Therefore we rely on s17 of
FOI(S)A 2002 and declare that the information is not held.

However there are a range of resources that provide information on vegan
nutrition and can be accessed by following the links below:

Scottish Borders Council aim to cater for pupils who have special diets
for medical reasons, by requesting a Special Diet Requirement Form the
Catering Nutritionist will be able to advise on options available. In
addition to medical requirements, the special diet process covers vegan
diets.

There is also the Lancet report, which is looking at healthy, sustainable
diets but it doesn’t recommend completely removing all animal products:

We are directing you to NHS Inform for general advice on
veganism/vegetarian diets.   There may also be some specific advice about
vegan eating held in Dietetics at NHS Borders.

Search | NHS inform

Or go to Making a Request for information on how to make a request to NHS
Borders under FOI(S)A.

I should advise that you have a right to request a review within 40
working days from the date we respond to your request.  You should either
