Various Freedom of Information requests

sam solomon made this Freedom of Information request to JFS This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear JFS,
1. How much was raised by selling comic relief red noses in 2017?. What was the original intention of where this money was going to go and who made it. When was this decision altered and by whom.
2. Since September 2015, only a monthly basis, how many students have been put in
a – the school lunch detention, and
b – after school detention.
What % of students have attended each on a monthly basis?
3. How much has been spent on student rewards this academic year (cashing in their good notes)? How has this been funded?

Yours faithfully,

sam solomon

Dear Mr Solomon

Your request made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (“FOIA”).

I refer to your request for information dated 23 June 2017. Your request
was as follows:

Dear JFS,

1. How much was raised by selling comic relief red noses in 2017?. What
was the original intention of where this money was going to go and who
made it. When was this decision altered and by whom.

2. Since September 2015, only a monthly basis, how many students have been
put in  a – the school lunch detention, and  b – after school detention.

What % of students have attended each on a monthly basis?

3. How much has been spent on student rewards this academic year (cashing
in their good notes)? How has this been funded?

Comic Relief

·         The school raised £1524.18 for Comic Relief.

·         It was initially planned to combine this with some fundraising
for the School.

·         The decision was altered by me on 20 March when it became clear
that this was not allowed under the terms of the Comic Relief
arrangements.

Detentions

·         Please find attached the list of detentions although please note
that we do not have complete data to answer the questions you have asked
for but have provided the best raw data available from SIMS.

·         The data does not reflect if a student was unwell on the day of
a detention or where the detention has not been set within our school
expectations or a student not clearly informed.  In these circumstances,
SIMS will show an absence, although that ‘absence’ may be legitimate.

·         There have also been occasions when the student was present at
the detention but this is not recorded properly.

·         When a student misses a detention, this is followed up by our
Pastoral Support Officers and the detention rescheduled but this is not
always amended either in SIMS.

·         I am happy to explain these systems further to you if that would
be helpful but I realise that falls outside of your request.

·         All that said, we are aware that there are some students who are
missing detentions and slipping through the net.  We are working on
improving the efficacy of our systems and have plans in place to do so for
next academic year.

Rewards

·         So far this academic year, we have spent £6548 on rewards.  This
is funded from the Student Fund budget.

This concludes the School’s response to your request. If you are
dissatisfied with this response you can ask us to review our response or
complain to the Information Commissioner ([1]www.ico.gov.uk) / Information
Commissioner's Office (Wycliffe House Water Lane Wilmslow Cheshire SK9
5AF).

Kind regards
