Please could you provide me with the variable speed limit for the following location:

M62, between Junction 27 & 26 Eastbound on 24/10/2019 @ 21:46

Additionally, could you please confirm the following:

1) The full details of the reason the M62 variable speed limit was set at what it was at the above stated location, date, and time.

2) The time that the variable speed limits that lead up to the J27/26 eastbound were introduced, the time they were ended and also the duration of the activity and issue that led to the speed limit being in force.

Dear Ms Chilvers

 

 

Thank you for your email on 10 November  concerning speed settings on the
M62 eastbound Junction 26 to 27 on 24 October 2019 at 21:46.

The information you have requested we make available to the public on a
regular basis.

Your request has been handled under normal business practices and not in
accordance with the Freedom of Information Act/Environmental Information
Regulations.

 

I have checked Highways England systems and can report the following
refers to settings for the location and time frame requested.

21:10 for safety reasons and In preparation of workforce attending to set
out roadworks in the area signs and signals were set with a lane 1 closure
and temporary 40mph speed limits over open lanes. The location of the
settings was between Junction 26 and J27 and included the West Yorkshire
Police camera enforcement site.

22:26 temporary lane closure and speed limits were removed once the
roadworks traffic management had been established

 

 

For added information and only if the request is in relation to a speed
enforcement offence notification, it is the Police who operate all speed
enforcement. As part of the evidential trail for offences the Police
obtain images from the cameras which show the vehicle travelling under the
gantry along with an image of the displayed temporary speed limit as the
vehicle passes the enforcement site.

If you wanted to check this image, they can be obtained by requesting a
copy from the relevant Police Camera Partnership which for this section of
the motorway is West Yorkshire Police.
