Dear Mr Cross

Thank you for your email to Highways England on 21 August concerning speed
settings on the M62 westbound Junction 28 to Junction 27 on 16 August 2020
at 18:14.

The information you have requested we make available to the public on a
regular basis.

Your request has been handled under normal business practices and not in
accordance with the Freedom of Information Act/Environmental Information
Regulations.

The following refers to settings for the enforcement site on the M62
westbound Junction 28 to Junction 27 on the specified date and time
requested:-

Please note that there were speed settings in the area of Junction 28 to
Junction 27 for most of the day due to roadworks westbound at Junction 27
where there were only two of the normal 4 lanes available for traffic,
this was for bridge repair works at Geldard Road. The automatic queue
protection system was active due to volumes of traffic approaching the
works area and lane closures.

16:30 temporary speed limit of 50mph was activated which was a 10mph
increase from the temporary speed of 40mph prior to 16:30. The temporary
50mph speed limit was in place till 20:34 when traffic levels reduced to a
level when national speed limit was re-introduced.

For added information and only  if your enquiry refers to an speeding
offence, it is the Police who operate all speed enforcement, as part of
the evidential trail the Police obtain images from the cameras which show
the vehicle travelling under the gantry along with an image of the
displayed temporary speed limit as the vehicle passes the enforcement
site.

If you wanted to check this image, it can be obtained by requesting a copy
from the relevant Police Camera Partnership which for this site is South
Yorkshire Police.

If you feel the information supplied is not sufficient or has not been
answered within the 15-day period, you may wish to complain. The
