Dear Mr Slater

Thank you for your enquiry concerning speed restrictions on the M6
Junctions 2 - 4, on 12 - 13 April between 8am - 10am.

Northbound carriageway

 1. Speeds were active from 07:21 on the Northbound exit slip road, from
07:22 on the Southbound carriageway, I cannot see any active speeds on
the Northbound carriageway (other than the exit slip road).
 2. All speeds were set by Midas (MID) and were set automatically (Auto)
mainly as a result of congestion, some additional message signs were
set by the control room (OIF) and these were as a report of an
obstruction.
 3. Speeds fluctuate throughout the time line and range from 40mph to
60mph.

Southbound carriageway

 1. Speeds were active from 07:23 on the Southbound carriageway, I cannot
see any active speeds on the Northbound carriageway.
 2. All speeds were set by Midas (MID) and were set automatically (Auto)
as a result of congestion, some additional message signs were set by
the control room (OIF) and these were as a report of a stranded
vehicle and a lane closure and these were on the Northbound
carriageway.
 3. The speeds were showing 60mph.

I have attached data for both the southbound and northbound carriageway.

Please note that enforcement of speed restrictions is the responsibility
of the police. We are unable to comment on or provide you with advice
