speedenforcementSE, Highways England Company Limited

Dear Sarah Wibrow

Thank you for your enquiry to CCC recorded below which has been forwarded
to me.

According to our records, at the enforcement site on the date and time
requested a mandatory speed limit of 40mph was set between 16:54-19:11 due
to queuing traffic detected ahead and the message sign at that location
displayed “Queue Caution” and “A12 J12 Exit Closed”.

Please be aware that the recently upgraded speed enforcement system on our
smart motorways generates a photo showing the speed limit displayed on the
enforcement gantry at the exact time of the alleged offence and which
should be obtainable from the relevant Enforcement Authority.

Enforcement of speed restrictions is the responsibility of the police. We
are unable to comment on, or provide you with advice about alleged
offences. Within the judicial process, information held by the police will
always take legal precedence. This response is for information only and
cannot be used in court for the purpose of challenging an allegation of
offending.

If you have any queries about this response, please contact our Customer
Contact Centre, quoting reference number 19175890.

Yours sincerely
