Dear Kate Symington,
Thanks you for the information.
can you let me know why no contracts were placed through the Government's money saving system?
Yours sincerely,
R Thurlow
Mr Thurlow
We carried out a major exercise last year to try and put our embryonic shared service out to the suppliers on the g-cloud. The results were that is was still significantly cheaper to "do-it-ourselves". The industry believes that this will turnaround within the next 5 years and the g-cloud will come into its own, especially as the costs of virtualizations has dropped recently.
I hope this is helpful.

This request was about EDDC Business centre costs. EDDC's latest reply was about the value of IT contracts, which is another subject I am pursuing! Usual EDDC competence

I think you mean the other way around - this request is about IT costs - and the response from EDDC is for a different FoI request.
(In essence I think that WDTK uses email to correspond with EDDC, each having a unique email address to reply to, and the EDDC officer mistakenly used the wrong email when sending the reply.)
