Your request was received on 11^th March 2023 and I am dealing with it
under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Response
All data is as of 21 March 2023. All data relates to claims received by
the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) and those transferred from
the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) on 1 November 2021. All figures
provided below relate to COVID-19 vaccinations:
Please read the below notes to ensure correct understanding of the data.
Question 1
4,178 claims have been received by the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme
(VDPS).
Question 2
1,165 claims have completed medical assessment.
Question 3
1,230 claims are currently with an independent medical assessor.
Question 4
63 claimants have been notified they are entitled to a Vaccine Damage
Payment.
Question 5
1,102 claims have been rejected and a further 56 did not meet the criteria
for medical assessment.
Question 6
1,031 claims have been rejected where causation was not accepted, 71
claims have been rejected where causation was accepted but disablement
assessed at less than 60%, and 56 claims have been rejected where the
application was invalid in not meeting the eligibility criteria for the
scheme.

512 claims were received more than 12 months ago and have not yet reached
an outcome. Of these 512 claims, 144 claims were received more than 18
months ago and have not yet reached an outcome.
Question 9
26 of the claims where an award outcome has been communicated were made on
behalf of someone who has died.

'As of 23 February 2023, of the 48 awarded claims relating to the COVID-19 vaccine, 23 were claims made on behalf of a deceased person, and in all cases the deaths were recorded by coroners as having been caused by a COVID-19 vaccination. Of the 890 rejected claims, 52 were made on behalf of a deceased person and in no cases were the deaths recorded by a coroner as having been caused by a COVID-19 vaccination.'
