Dear Cathays HIgh School, Cardiff,

Please could you supply the following information-

For the week beginning November 13th 2017. The total number of lessons taught in the school for those five school days.

The total number of lessons where a qualified teacher was not present and unqualified staff were there during the lesson i.e., cover supervisors, teaching assistants. Please note this should NOT include any lessons taken by students on a teacher training course.

Thank you

Yours faithfully,

Angela Sandles

Dear Cathays HIgh School, Cardiff,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Cathays HIgh School, Cardiff's handling of my FOI request 'Use of Unqualified Staff'.

By law, I should have received a reply promptly and by the 15th December. Please can you review my request?

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/u...

Thank you in anticipation
Yours faithfully,

Angela Sandles

SDavies, Cathays HIgh School, Cardiff

Dear Angela

I am afraid that we have no record of your original request having got to
the school. However, this notice was passed to me today at 09.16am. The
school being closed for the Christmas holidays when the notice for an
internal review was sent on 30^th December.

Having looked at our records I can confirm that there were 986 hours
taught in the school during the week beginning 13^th Nov 2017. Of these 26
hours were taken by staff who are not qualified as teachers. These related
to the 3 cover supervisors who are not qualified teachers covering for the
short term sickness absence of their colleagues.

Our sickness absence records show that the week beginning 13^th November
was a particularly heavy week for short term sickness absence and was
atypical of the rest of the academic year so we would not normally have
that many lessons covered on average.

I hope this information is what you were looking for.

Thanks

Stuart Davies

(Deputy Headteacher)

Dear Mr Davies,
Thank you for your reply.

Yours sincerely,

Angela Sandles
