Use of outside agencies to teach or discuss gender issues

The request was successful.

Dear Cockburn School, Leeds,

I am conducting research under the Freedom of Information Act. Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions.

The terms involved in this topic can often become muddled. For the purposes of this FOI I am using the following definitions:
Sex = biological or natal sex
Gender = the way in which a person chooses to present or identify. This may differ from their sex.

1. In the last five years, has your school invited any third party, charity or lobby group into the school to teach the PSHE and RSE curriculum (this includes online resources)? If yes, please list these organisations and the pupil year groups involved.
2. In relation to the teaching of PSHE or RSE does the school website include links to any third party, charity or lobby group? If so, please list these organisations.
3. Does your school allow parents to view RSE teaching materials, whether produced in-house or provided by an external agency?

I would be grateful if you would send me copies of any materials that you currently use for teaching students about sex and gender. Examples might include worksheets, lesson plans, leaflets, PowerPoint presentations, etc.

Yours faithfully,

Frances Moody

Dear Cockburn School, Leeds,

The terms involved in this topic can often become muddled. For the

1. In the last five years, has your school invited any third party,
charity or lobby group into the school to teach the PSHE and RSE
curriculum (this includes online resources)? If yes, please list these
organisations and the pupil year groups involved. We have not in the 3
years that I have been at Cockburn School
2. In relation to the teaching of PSHE or RSE does the school website
include links to any third party, charity or lobby group? If so, please
list these organisations. We do not
3. Does your school allow parents to view RSE teaching materials, whether
produced in-house or provided by an external agency? We do, every year
curriculum overviews are put on the school website, with lesson materials
provided upon request

I would be grateful if you would send me copies of any materials that you
currently use for teaching students about sex and gender. Examples might
include worksheets, lesson plans, leaflets, PowerPoint presentations, etc.

Dear Frances

Your FOI questions 2-3 have been answered by the PSHE Lead in the email below. I need to clarify the following:

1. In the last five years, has your school invited any third party, charity or lobby group into the school to teach the PSHE and RSE curriculum (this includes online resources)? If yes, please list these organisations and the pupil year groups involved.

To clarify Cockburn School has not invited any third party, charity or lobby group into the school to teach the PSHE and RSE curriculum (this includes online resources) in the last 5 years.
*******************************************
In terms of the generic request for:

I would be grateful if you would send me copies of any materials that you currently use for teaching students about sex and gender. Examples might include worksheets, lesson plans, leaflets, PowerPoint presentations, etc.

I requested a narrowing of scope only as the request is generic and wide ranging as curriculum is planned and threaded. However, considering your response I have attached a sample of materials.

Regards
Emma
