Dear Devon and Cornwall Police and Crime Commissioner,
Twice in the last 10 days or so the police helicopter has been hovering over the area I live for extended periods of time, how much is that costing tax payers and has it resulted in any arrests? If it was looking for a missing person were they found?
The second time is now at 2114 on 1st November. How much does it cost to have a helicopter flying over a city?

Yours faithfully,
John Lindley

Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, Devon and Cornwall Police and Crime Commissioner

Hi Eleanor

Please would you read the below. It is addressed to the Commissioner but asking for Police information about use and costs of the helicopter. Should I reply with our usual cut and paste, or respond saying we would not hold the info?

People seem to have a real bee in their bonnet about this lately as I have had a couple of emails complaining about the noise of the helicopter and I've directed the writers to the Police and the NPAS website.

Kind regards

Teresa

TANNER Eleanor 90526, Devon and Cornwall Police and Crime Commissioner

Dear Mr Lindley
Further to your request below, police helicopter services are provided through the National Police Air Service (NPAS). NPAS provides borderless air support to the 46 police forces of England and Wales from their national network of 15 bases. The National Police Air Service is delivered by West Yorkshire Police on behalf of British Policing and governed by a National Board made up of six elected Police and Crime Commissioners and six Chief Constables each representing their policing regions. It is funded through the collaborative agreement of participating police forces to each pay a proportionate contribution toward this overall cost of delivery which corresponds to their service use. ( More information about this service can be found here: http://npas.police.uk/about-us )

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner does not hold information relevant to your request below. However, you may wish to contact NPAS and / or the Devon and Cornwall Police for information relevant to your request. Devon and Cornwall Police FOI can be contacted on [email address] (foi at devon and cornwall . pnn .police .uk, with spaces removed)
