Dear Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service,

2. What on call/recall payments are made to USAR personnel (if additional to above)

3. Do USAR technicians undertake USAR/Technical Rescue only or do they also have full firefighting and CFS responsibilities?

4. How many USAR personnel do you have?

5. Please provide a breakdown of your annual USAR budget and expenditure.

6. Please explain the expected training requirements of USAR personnel.

Kind regards

Dear Mr McMahon,

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000

Further to our acknowledgement of your request for information which was
received on 14 May 2018, I am seeking some clarification from you.

National resilience is funded by a Section 31 grant. This grant has 4
elements to it:

They are Enhanced Logistic Support (ELS), Mass Decontamination, High
Volume pumping and USAR.

All of these grant elements are put into one budget line (National
Resilience).

To separate out the specific spending on USAR would be time consuming if
not impossible. The problem is that any given employee may do one or all
of the disciplines over the course of a week and we don’t differentiate
for budget purposes.

Please advise if you would be happy to change the wording of your request
to:

“Please provide a breakdown of your annual National Resilience budget and
expenditure” as this will be much easier to provide and will be more
accurate.

Please note that until we hear back from you on this matter, the 20
working day clock stops.

Yours sincerely,

Wendy Richmond
