Usage of GPs within ambulance service

The request was successful.

Dear Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust,

Please can you provide me with:
1) The number of General Practitioners employed by your trust within your clinical hub who act to prevent ambulance dispatching and increase hear and treat rates. Please break down into full-time/part-time/bank staff.
2) Does your trust employee a General Practitioner on a vehicle to respond in person to 999 calls. If so, please provide further details of this such as non-conveyance rates for this and interventions they provide (i.e wound care, supply antibiotics, etc.)
3) How many Emergency Care Practitioners (Specialist Paramedics in Urgent Care) your trust employ. Please break down into full-time/part-time/bank staff.
4) What the non-conveyance rates are for your Emergency Care Practitioners.

Yours faithfully,

Conor Calby

Dear Conor Calby,

Could you please provide clarification for Question 3 - 'How many Emergency Care Practitioners (Specialist Paramedics in Urgent Care) your trust employ. Please break down into full-time/part-time/bank staff'.

The Emergency Care Practitioner descriptor which the Trust used to use for Advanced Paramedic Practitioners is no longer used in the Electronic Staff Record. The Trust now use one descriptor, specifically for Advanced Paramedic Practitioners, however, there is a separate code group for Specialist Practitioners which include a number of different roles.

For the purposes of this request, should the Trust use 'Advanced Paramedic Practitioners' instead of 'Emergency Care Practitioner'?

Regards,

Jeff Prescott
