Usage of Flash 10.1 BBC iPlayer streaming on Android 2.2 ('FroYo') devices.

Ben Griffiths made this Freedom of Information request to British Broadcasting Corporation

The request was successful.

From: Ben Griffiths

31 July 2010

Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,

I would like to understand the take-up of iPlayer Flash streaming
for Android 2.2 phones in July 2010. For the avoidance of doubt,
I'm talking about the service referenced in this blog post:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bbcinternet/2...

Please provide:

- the number hours of programming streamed to Android 2.2 phones
using flash 10.1 technology in July 2010. If this is not possible,
please provide the number of programmes streamed.

- the number of unique users of this service - you may interpret
this as the number of unique IP addresses from which Android 2.2
phones have accessed the new flash service - in 2010.

For comparison, please also provide either:

- the number of programmes, or preferably hours of programming,
streamed to Apple iOS devices in July 2010.

- the number of unique users - or unique IP addresses - of the iOS
service in July 2010.

Yours faithfully,

Ben Griffiths
