Dear Freedom of Information team, thank you for your acknowledgment,

should you require any clarification of my request please do reach out, likewise if we need to discuss how the extent of information that could be obtained without cost or complexity, I would be most likely happy to amend my request accordingly.

I appreciate that releasing a figure relating to the cost of providing the Zinio service will likely include an element relating to licencing costs that would normally not be subject to FOI. That said, given the Council's active consultation to save money by cutting libraries services, I believe releasing this information [in an amalgamated format], and as it will be included with other costs incurred by the Council [to provide this service] that it is in the wider public interest for this information to be released at this time.

Yours sincerely,
A Brown

Dear Mr Brown,

FOI Request ref:  9678 / Library Usage and Costs Information

Thank you for your request for information about the above, which has been
dealt with under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Your
request and our response are set out below. Please note that any
information we provide is subject to the copyright and reuse of
information terms and conditions set out at the bottom of this email.

Request (In Blue) & Response (In Red)

Q1) How many residents of Hurst Green parish are currently signed up for
the Home Library Service?

There are two library customers in the Hurst Green parish that are
registered as Housebound. This entitles them to extended loan periods and
access to the Home Library Service. In addition, family members or friends
can collect books on their behalf.

Q2) In the last year [Oct 17-Oct 16], how many of the residents who are
signed up for the Home Library Service have used the service?

One Housebound customer has used the Home Library Service.

Q3) How many Home Library Service volunteers do you have who currently
serve, or are able to cover residents of Hurst Green parish who use the
Home Library Service?

We match volunteers to customers when we receive a request for the Home
Library Service. There are currently two registered volunteers who live
close to Hurst Green.

The majority of library customers from the Hurst Green parish visit
Battle, Heathfield and Wadhurst Libraries. We have 26 Home Library Service
volunteers registered to these libraries.

Q4) In the last year [Oct 17-Oct 16], how many residents have used the
Mobile Library service at the Hurst Green Village Hall stop?

We do not record use of the Mobile Library Service by individual
residents.  We only record the total number of visits by mobile stop.
There were 97 total visits to this Thursday bi-monthly stop between 1 Oct
16 and 12 Oct 17. These 97 visits are likely to consist of a number of
repeat visits by some of the same residents.  Usually just 5/6 people use
this stop. On two days in this period 7 people visited the Mobile Library
at this stop and on 12 Oct 17, 11 people visited the Mobile Library at
this stop.

Q1) How many residents of East Sussex have used the Zinio magazine service
provided by the Council in the last year [Oct-Oct] (or part of a year if
the service has been running for less than a year)?

1,927 unique East Sussex library members logged into Zinio between 1 Oct
16 and 20 Oct 17

Q2) What is the annual cost to administer and provide this service to
residents of East Sussex?

Our planned budget for Zinio is £10,000 per annum

the last year [Oct-Oct] (or part of a year if the service has been running
for less than a year)?

Oct 16 and 20 Oct 17
