Unsatisfied charge relating to Isle of Portland Aldridge Community Academy Trust

Department for Education did not have the information requested.

Dear Department for Education

Companies House records show that a charge relating to Isle of Portland Aldridge Community Academy Trust has been 'partially satisfied'.

The trust has now dissolved.

I should be grateful if you could let me know how much IPACA paid to partially satisfy the charge.

I should also be grateful if you could let me know what happens to the unsatisfied part of the charge. The academy was taken over by Aspirations Academy Trust but there is no charge listed in relation to this trust.

Yours faithfully,

J Downs

Dear Department for Education,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Department for Education's handling of my FOI request 'Unsatisfied charge relating to Isle of Portland Aldridge Community Academy Trust' (IPACA).

I am not convinced the DfE does not have information about charges in favour of the Secretary of State for Education or that the DfE doesn't keep a record of any consideration given when charges are satisfied or partially satisfied.

Company House documentation relating to the charge says any payment should be sent to 'the credit of such account as the Lender [the Secretary of State for Education] may designate'. The Statement of Satisfaction in Part or in Full relating to IPACA was submitted by a solicitor acting for the 'Chargor', that is the person granting the charge (ie the SoS).

I am, therefore, requesting an internal review.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/u...

Yours faithfully

J Downs

The above was previously sent to this request in error, as usually it is an internal document. The Education and Skills Funding Agency contacted WhatDoTheyKnow to request it was removed. We initially refused on the grounds that displaying it was in the public interest, and they provided an redacted copy, removing the names of low-level staff. We have therefore deleted the original copy.
