Unregistered marriages in minority faith groups

The request was partially successful.

Dear Sirs,

I understand on 26 June 2014 there took place a round table meeting at the House of Lords to discuss unregistered marriages in minority faith groups.

I’d be very keen to find out more about this meeting.

Kindly supply me with any information available on the House of Lords group that discussed unregistered marriages in minority faith groups; members, meetings, progress; reports.

Yours faithfully,

Vishal Vora

HOL FOI & Information Compliance, House of Lords

Dear Vishal,

I am writing in response to your request (copied below) to the House of
Lords.

Many meetings are held at the House of Lords.  The House of Lords
Administration will only hold detailed information in relation to formal
Parliamentary committee meetings or meetings within the Administration.
The meeting you are interested in falls into neither of these categories.

Room booking records show that a room was booked by Baroness Uddin for a
meeting on 26 June 2014 from 12.00 to 14.00 hrs. The subject of the
meeting was given as “Muslim Marriage Project”.  The House
Administration’s involvement in such events is minimal being limited to
the provision of meeting rooms.  It  had no other involvement in the event
you are interested in and therefore does not hold information relating to
this project.

You may wish to contact Baroness Uddin directly, bearing in mind that
Members of the House are not public authorities for the purposes of the
Freedom of Information Act 2000.  Contact details can be found at:

I hope this is helpful.

You may, if dissatisfied with the treatment of your request, ask the House
of Lords to conduct an internal review. This should be addressed to
[2][email address] or to the Freedom of Information Officer, House
of Lords, London SW1A 0PW and explain clearly the nature of your
complaint. Arrangements will be made for someone who has not been involved
in dealing with your request to conduct an internal review within 20
working days.

If, following this review, you remain dissatisfied with the House’s
treatment of your request for information; you may then take your
complaint to the Information Commissioner at Wycliffe House, Water Lane,
Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.

Yours sincerely,

Frances Grey

Freedom of Information Officer
