Unoccupied Properties

We are not able to release details of residential empty properties as this
would be covered by the following exemptions:

Section 40 Personal information: The names of property owners are personal
data and although the address is empty it still constitutes the personal
data of the owner

Also

Section 31 Prevention and detection of crime.

As the release of information under FOI is considered to be global
revealing the locations of empty properties runs a real risk of attracting
criminal activity such as squatting, vandalism, asset stripping,and drug
related usage. While there is public interest in bringing empty properties
back into use this must be balanced with prevention of and the prevention
of fear of criminal activity for residents of the district. The council
feels that the interest in non-disclosure outweighs the interest in
disclosure.
