Dear Jack,

Request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000

Following your request for information on 23 November 2020 regarding
insurance details, please see below for the University’s response. Please
accept our apologies for the delay in responding to you.

For your ease of reference, our answers are set out following your
original questions as shown below:

Who provides your institution with insurance cover and which type(s) of
insurance cover do they provide to you? Please break down by provider,
specifying the cover provided by each, if there are multiple providers.

ZMI - Most of the University's insurance cover is provided by ZMI.

RSA - Covers Professional Indemnity, Engineering, Employee & Third-Party
Fraud, Corporate Liability and Management Liability.

UMSR - Special Risks (Acts of Terrorism)

Newline - Clinical Trials

Blackwall Green - Works of Art

Lloyds AXA - Special Contingency K&R

Does your institution procure insurance via a consortia framework? If so,
please specify which consortia and framework.
Insurance is procured via a consortia (LUPC) but not a specific
framework.

How long has your institution procured insurance from the current
provider(s)?
Various - Between 1 to 6 years depending on cover.

Does your institution engage the services of an insurance broker?
Yes

When does your current insurance policy(s) expire?
31 July 2021
Has your institution procured insurance from UMAL since 1 January 2015? If
so, please specify which type of cover and the period for which it was
procured.
No, although we do use UMSR for terrorism cover.

What factors determined your choice of current insurance provider? Please
specify which factor(s) took precedence in your
analysis. Price? Reputation of provider? Other?

As we are members of the LUPC insurance consortia, we leave these
decisions to our nominated broker. The brokers deal with renewals and we
adhere to their recommendations for appropriate cover & supplier.
