University attainment statistics for East Sussex schools and FE institutions
Dear Sir or Madam,
I would like to make a request under the Freedom of Information Act for the following information:
1. the number of pupils who take GCE-level and equivalent examinations in maintained schools, sixth-form colleges and FE institutions in East Sussex every year for the last few years, broken down by institution;
2. the proportion of those who go on to study at Bachelors level at universities in the UK or elsewhere from maintained East Sussex institutions, broken down by institution; and
3. a list of maintained schools, sixth-form colleges and FE institutions in East Sussex whose annual university admission rate has either (a) been such a cause for concern that the council has taken any steps to change it or (b) has dropped more than 20% in the last ten years.
Any other information that you'd be willing to provide on the matter of East Sussex schools and their success or otherwise in preparing students for university-level study.
Yours faithfully,
Tom Morris

In some circumstances a fee may be payable and if that is the case, I
will let you know the likely charges before proceeding.
If you have any queries about this letter please contact me. Please

Dear Mr Morris,
FOI request ref 2008 / 184 / University attainments
Further to our email of 23 May I am writing to confirm that the County
Council has now completed its search for the information you requested on
that date.
You asked for information about University attainment statistics for East
Sussex schools. Your specific questions, together with our response, are
at the end of this email.
I hope that this answers your enquiry. If you are unhappy with the way the
County Council has handled your request under FOI you may ask for an
internal review. If you wish to do so, please set out the grounds of your
appeal in writing to Andrew Ogden, Director of Law and Personnel, East
Sussex County Council, County Hall, St Anne's Crescent, Lewes, East
Sussex, BN7 1SW, or by email to him at [1][email address].
If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review, you then
have the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a
decision. Generally, the Information Commissioner cannot make a decision
unless you have exhausted the County Council's internal review procedure
as described in the previous paragraph. The Commissioner can be contacted
at: Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane,
Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF. Tel: 01625 545 700.
