Universal Credit Random Checks
Dear Department for Communities (Northern Ireland),
I am writing to ascertain if there has been an increase in random checks for fraud or error within Universal Credit here in NI. If so, how much is it costing to implement this programme of checks? How many individuals are selected each week, on average, within NI? What is the process involved for the claimant? And are they, at any point in the process, made aware they can seek advice? And/or have a representative accompany them to any meetings either in person, online or via telephone?
Yours faithfully,
Sinead Quinn
