Universal credit- management information about timescales for mandatory reconsideration

Martin Williams made this Freedom of Information request to Department for Work and Pensions

This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

The request was partially successful.

Martin Williams

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

Please provide me with any management information on how long it is taking to conduct a mandatory reconsideration in universal credit.

Ideally, I would like this information broken down by month since April 2016. If any detail is held showing how long it takes to conduct a mandatory reconsideration in a UC case dependent on type of request (eg WCA challenge, sanction, challenge to amount of earnings etc) that would be appreciated.

Please also disclose any performance indicators which are used for how long a mandatory reconsideration should take in a UC case and details of performance against those indicators.

Yours faithfully,

Martin Williams

What happened in January 2017? In this month there were 365 mandatory reconsiderations after 28 days. In the previous nine months there were less than 390 mandatory considerations after 28 days.

Martin Williams

Dear Operations FOI Requests,

Many thanks for your partial reply to my FOI request. It would be helpful if you could also provide:

1. For the same months in the UC live service - the numbers of mandatory reconsideration requests recorded as having been received.

2. Any equivalent or similar information to that provided in your response thus far for the universal credit full service caseload.

Thanks again.

Yours sincerely,

Martin Williams
