Dear Mr Hai

Further to your request for information in accordance with the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 dated 10 October 2018, please see the College’s
response below:

1.       How many trade union reps are there working at the College?

The College recognises 2 unions for teaching staff (UCU and NEU) and 1
union for support staff (UNISON)

2.       How much time do reps get for their union duties?

Please see attached Remission Document for 2018-19

3.       How many full time union reps are there?

None of the College’s Reps are full time.  The UCU rep structure and
remission arrangements are set out in the Remission Document 2018-19
attached.  There are no current NEU reps.  There are two Unison reps
(neither of whom have any formal remission).

4. Can you give me a copy of your handbook or any other documents you have
in relation to the duties performed by union reps?

There is no formal documentation about the role of the TU reps at the
College.  The College therefore operates in accordance with custom and
practice and, of course, in accordance with its statutory obligations.

The College’s Lecturer Contract refers to collective agreements and the
following is the relevant exert:

“20         Collective Agreements

20.1        The following collective agreements directly affect the terms
and conditions of your employment:

a) Sick leave and sick pay scheme

b) Maternity leave and maternity pay scheme

c) Adoptive parents leave and pay scheme

d) Pay spine for lecturing staff and its operation

e) Grievance Policy”

If you are not satisfied with the College’s response, please contact me in
the first instance.  If you still remain dissatisfied, please contact the
