Unfit for work

Kirsty Eccles made this Freedom of Information request to Department for Work and Pensions

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

Please provide me with the legislation that states a Universal Credit claimant must attend regular appointments with a job center advisor or face a sanction though they have had their requirement to provide job search evidence suspended because they are on the sick and unfit for work and are sending in doctors sick notes to the Universal Credit service center.

Please provide me with legislation and medical qualifications that entitles Job Center advisors to question claimants on the state of their health when called in to attend appointments whilst on the sick as above.

Yours faithfully,

Kirsty Eccles

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Department for Work and Pensions's handling of my FOI request 'Unfit for work'.

You decided to ignore the most important part of my foi request......."Please provide me with legislation and medical qualifications that entitles Job Center advisors to question claimants on the state of their health when called in to attend appointments whilst on the sick...."

Please provide me with the information I requested.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/u...

Yours faithfully,

Kirsty Eccles

Dear DWP Strategy Freedom of Information,

Thanks for your response where you clarified that there is no legislation or medical qualifications that entitles Job Center advisors to question claimants on the state of their health when called in to attend appointments whilst on the sick. ........"With regards the second part of your request we confirmed that the Department for Work &
Pensions does not hold the information requested."

Therefore the dwp are breaking the law for allowing job center advisors to cause harassment, alarm and distress to sick people by questioning them on the state of their health.

Yours sincerely,

Kirsty Eccles
