Unethical/Questionable internal recriutment and returning to the office.

We're waiting for M Williams to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear General Dental Council,

Does the General Dental Council have policies in place to prevent directors hiring and promoting their friends, who have little or no knowledge of the role/directorate, over staff that are actually suited to the role? if so what is the policy?

Has there been any previous cases at the General Dental Council, where directors have been found giving unwarranted and unfair promotions and/or unsuitable roles? If so how was it dealt with, were they allowed to resign/pursue other roles or have their contract run out?

Does the chair/chief executive at the General Dental Council approve head of roles that are awarded by their directors, without advertisement internally or externally?

Was the chief executive aware of the head of hearing role been filled, a role that was made redundant over a year ago and could have been filled by a handful of staff in the hearings department, who have exceptional knowledge of the hearings processes, without any internal or external advertisement?

How much less do the Birmingham staff get paid than the London staff for comparable roles on average?

As your staff have been working at home for over a year, are there any plans to reduce the London's staff wages to that of the Birmingham staff, as the amount of work should be equal and rates are the same country wide?

If you are phasing returning to the office, are your Managers and above going to lead the way by returning full time first, leading by example? After all your registrants have not had the luxury of been able to work from home at all.

Yours faithfully,

Michael Williams
