Underground Station Timetable Posters, list of current UTS codes and in-carriage abbreviations for safety equipment etc.

Suzy Scott made this Freedom of Information request to Transport for London

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was partially successful.

Hello there,
Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I hereby request the following;
1. Can I please have copies of the Underground and Overground station panels showing train times/first and last/frequency etc. – these should ideally be correct for changes from 10th December 2017, and excluding the seasonal timetables for the Metropolitan and Piccadilly Lines. (These used to be on the website pre-Journey Planner, but I would require printable PDF’s or another similar format?)
2. Can I please have a listing of the various abbreviations used inside underground passenger carriages? I recall they used to indicate safety equipment (DML etc.) under seats and the like, but could you please supply a listing?
3. Can I please have an up-to-date listing of the UTS Gate codes (00, 07, 22 etc.) and their explanations?

Thanks,
Suzy x

Dear Ms Scott

TfL Ref: FOI-2378-1718

Thank you for your email received by us on 22 November 2017 asking for
information about London Underground Stations.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of
the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can
confirm that we hold some of the information you require.

1.Can I please have copies of the Underground and Overground station
panels showing train times/first and last/frequency etc. – these should
ideally be correct for changes from 10th December 2017, and excluding the
seasonal timetables for the Metropolitan and Piccadilly Lines. (These used
to be on the website pre-Journey Planner, but I would require printable
PDF’s or another similar format?) –

Please follow the links below:

[2]https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publication...

2.Can I please have a listing of the various abbreviations used inside
underground passenger carriages? I recall they used to indicate safety
equipment (DML etc.) under seats and the like, but could you please supply
a listing?

In accordance with the FOI Act we are not obliged to supply the
information as it is subject to a statutory exemption to the right of
access to information under section 38(1).

In this instance the exemption has been applied as disclosure of the
information you have requested would be likely to endanger the safety of
an individual. The use of this exemption in relation to similar
information was considered by the Information Commissioner in Decision
Notice FS50607218 which was issued on 17 March 2016. The Commissioner
upheld both the application of the exemption and the balance of the public
interest. We consider the same arguments apply to your current request.

3.Can I please have an up-to-date listing of the UTS Gate codes (00, 07,
22 etc.)

Please see the attached document in response to your request.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable
to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to
appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would
like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely

Hello there,
Thanks for your reply – trust you had a good Christmas break!
I note the contents of your reply, and thanks for the UTS codes list, and for replying to the abbreviations request. There are, however, a couple of points re the timetables.

1. The timetable links you sent are for the LO passenger timetables, and LUL working timetables. The request was for the PDF’s of the actual station posters, for every Overground, Underground, TfL Rail etc. station. These used to be on the website, but are no more. If in doubt, see the photo http://www.travelstay.com/images/1454479... which shows a Northern Line timetable poster on either side of the station entrances (behind the bin on left/standing gent on the right) - this is what I am after. I’m flexible on time, if you need to extend things a little.
2. Also, on the basis of the Underground WTT’s and the First & Last Train Sheets (currently online at the TfL Website), I do notice a couple are out of sync. I see that the Jubilee WTT shows 6th September 2015 (14) while the First & Last Sheet shows 3rd October 2016. Northern Line WTT shows 6th September 2015, while the First & Last Sheet shows 14th December 2014.
Could I therefore have the Jubilee WTT dated 3rd October 2016 (not online) and the Northern F&L sheets dated 6th September 2015 – neither are online – as soon as possible?

Thanks!
Suzy x

Dear Transport for London,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Transport for London's handling of my FOI request 'Underground Station Timetable Posters, list of current UTS codes and in-carriage abbreviations for safety equipment etc.'.

I told you over one month ago, that the information you gave was incorrect... but I've had no reply, not even a courtesy "we're working on it" ???? Please see the last message for what I was actually looking for, which does not suffice with your reply...

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/u...

Yours faithfully,

Suzy Scott

Hello there,

This is a final chaser for my request for Platform Timetable Posters.

My original request was back on 21st November 2017. After you mis-understood my request, I asked again, only to get no reply. You have promised a reply by 1st March 2018, and it’s now 26th March 2018. I’ve given you every opportunity to ask if you need more time.

I know you have this information… as they exist on every tube station platform, and they used to be on your website, so I can only assume they are open data.

If no reply is forthcoming by the end of the business day on Thursday (before bank holiday Friday), this WILL be passed to the Office Of The Information Commissioner.

Dear Miss Scott

IRV-143-1718

Further to my email of 27 March 2018 concerning your outstanding Internal
Review, please find attached copies of the London Underground Platform
Timetable Posters that we have been able to locate, which are the 2017
edition.

I can advise that these images are the most recent editions we hold. I am
in the process of investigating whether there are any older versions
available, in addition to providing copies of platform posters for each
station on the London Underground network as unfortunately we have not yet
been able to locate copies for each and every station.

Once again please accept my apologies for the amount of time this is
taking us to resolve.

Yours sincerely

Dear Miss Scott

IRV-143-1718

I am contacting you once more with regards to your request for an internal
review of FOI-2378-1718. Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay
in responding.

In the course of this review I have liaised with the appropriate
individuals within TfL concerning your request for London Underground
Station Timetable Posters

Please accept my apologies that this information was not provided in the
response for  FOI-2378-1718 and the considerable amount of time it has
taken us to resolve, not to mention the initial misunderstanding on our
part over the specific poster type you were seeking.

In my previous email to you sent on 3 April 2018, I had provided the 2017
edition of London Underground Station Timetable Posters, which is the most
recent edition we hold. I had also mentioned that I was investigating
whether there are any older versions available, in addition to providing
copies of platform posters for each station on the London Underground
network as we had not been able to locate copies for each and every
station at the time.

I am pleased to provide a complete set of the remaining archived London
Underground Station Timetable Posters that we have available across the
network. Due to the size and volume of these attachments it is necessary
to send them in more than one email.

Once again, please accept my apologies for the considerable amount of time
it has taken to provide this information.

If you are dissatisfied with the internal review actions to date
(IRV-174-1718) you can refer the matter to the independent authority
