Undergraduate admission statistics

The request was partially successful.

Dear London School of Economics,
Under the Freedom of Information Act, may I kindly request you to provide admissions statistics(number of applications, offers and intake) for each of the School's undergraduate courses. If possible, please provide data for the 2019,2018,2017,2016 and 2015 entry admission cycles.

Furthermore, I'd also like to know about these undergraduate admission statistics for Chinese students (of Chinese nationality) in the 2019,2018,2017,2016 and 2015 entry admission cycles, including the number of applications, offers and intake, broke down into each undergraduate course provided by the School.

I would like to thank you in advance for your help, and I am looking forward to your reply.

Yours faithfully,

Ruochen Liu

Dear Ruochen

Further to your recent FoI request, the Schools response is provided below:

The information that you requested has previously been supplied by the School over successive years between 2016-2019 to members of "What do they know" and published on your "What do they know" website. This includes, but is not limited, to multiple requests from members such as Stephen Li, Cookcui, James Holmes and Kai Chen. As this information has already been supplied to and published by you, please refer to your own website for this information. The most recent response can be located here: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/2...

Please note: Each applicant to LSE is considered on his/her merit and in competition with the rest of the applicant cohort in a given admissions cycle. Each application is viewed holistically; assessing the merit, potential, motivation, skills and qualities of applicants by considering all the information presented on the application form. This includes, but is not limited to, academic achievements and qualifications. The personal statement, academic reference and additional social and educational contextual data also form an important part of the selection process. This process of holistic review (including assessment of contextual information) is also used when making confirmation decisions.
For more information on exactly what contextual information is used in the admissions decision making process please refer to the Schools Undergraduate Admissions Policy: https://info.lse.ac.uk/staff/services/Po...

If you think that the information provided does not meet your request, contact Rachael Maguire on 020 7849 4622 or write to Louise Nadal, School Secretary, London School of Economics and Political Science, Houghton Street, London, WC2A 2AE. We will then review the response to your request and get back to you within 20 working days. You can also contact the Information Commissioner's Office http://www.ico.gov.uk/, though they expect the internal review to be carried out before receiving a complaint directly.

Dear London School of Economics,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of London School of Economics's handling of my FOI request 'Undergraduate admission statistics'.

I have looked at the question by Mr Stephen Li and it does not contain all the information that I have requested. In your response to that request, the data for intake(or enrolment) at LSE is not included, and neither is data for previous admissions cycles. Please could you provide the intake data for the current admission cycle and the application, offer and intake data for the previous admission cycles? I would be very thankful for your help.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/u...

Yours faithfully,

Ruochen Liu
