Under-representation of disabled people amongst NELC's staff.

Dear North East Lincolnshire Council,

Thank you for having taken the time to respond to my FOI of 9 December 2017. I wish to ask for further information due to the statistic that you provided that 2.41% of NELC staff have known disabilities.

I am concerned that only 2.41% of NELC staff have known disabilities (conditions or impairments), as that is not representative of the working age population, of whom 16% are disabled (DWP and ODI, 2014). If possible, please could you provide a percentage breakdown of condition/ impairment category for your disabled employees. Please could you provide the percentage of job applicants who declare that they are disabled. Please could you provide the percentage of successful job applicants who are disabled. Please could you provide the percentage of successful job applicants (subject to satisfactory health clearance) who are prevented from taking up the position by your occupational health provider. Please could you provide the percentage or number of employees who are forced to leave their position, by your occupational health provider, each year. If possible, please could you provide a break down by category of condition or impairment.

Thank you for your information request, reference number 8066_1718. I
wish to confirm that North East Lincolnshire Council holds the following
information.

 

If possible, please could you provide a percentage breakdown of condition/

·         Please note it is not a mandatory requirement for employees to
inform us about details of their condition or impairment therefore we have
attached the information that has been provided to us from the 2.41% of
employees who have indicated that they have a disability.   

 

Please could you provide the percentage of job applicants who declare that
they are disabled. Please could you provide the percentage of successful
job applicants who are disabled.

·        Since April 2017, 6.8% of applicants for our jobs have declared a
disability

 

Please could you provide the percentage of successful job applicants
(subject to satisfactory health clearance) who are prevented from taking
up the position by your occupational health provider.

·        North East Lincolnshire Council do not hold and information or
examples of this in the last 12 months

 

Please could you provide the percentage or number of employees who are
forced to leave their position, by your occupational health provider, each
year.

·        There have been 5 employees that have left on ill health grounds
since 1st April 2017, this process involves guidance and assistance from
occupational health

elements of the Council’s response or handling of the request you are
