Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Hammersmith and Fulham Borough Council should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Hammersmith and Fulham Borough Council,

Sylvia Rushbrooke

Dear Andrea Comer,
Thank you for the following information
Since 2014
How many complaints you have received each year about West Londons Coroners Court
service?

and how many complaints each year about the coroner Chinyere Inyama?

From 1 January 2014 to 23 February 2017 (the date of your request) there have been 15
formal complaints to the Council, 14 of which were largely concerned with the Coroners
Court and one which focused more on the Coroner.

Mr Chinyere Inyama was suspended on full pay 28/10/16 - is he still suspended?
Mr Inyama is no longer suspended. His suspension was lifted with the decision of the Lord
Chief Justice and Lord Chancellor on 22nd December 2017.

What is the council policy on fully paid suspended coroners?
Coroners are not employed by the Council. They are judicial appointments. The Council
has no control over the disciplinary process of the Coroner. All disciplinary matters are
referred to the Judicial Conduct Investigations Office and the decision to suspend and
discipline the Coroner is made by the Lord Chancellor and Lord Chief Justice. As such we
do not have a policy for the suspension of Coroners.

How long are suspended coroners allowed full pay from tax payers money?
There is no specified time limit for this. As explained in the answer to the question above,
this is a decision of the Lord Chancellor and Lord Chief Justice.

I understand the above can you confirm or no that west londins coroners court wages comes out of Hammersmith and Fuham budget or from where?
Yours sincerely,

Sylvia Rushbrooke

Dear Ms Rushbrooke,

Freedom of Information Act 2000

Thank you for your email and query, asking whether or not the
West London’s Coroner's Court wages comes out of the LB Hammersmith and
Fulham budget or from where.

Our response

This request is being dealt with under the Freedom of Information Act
2000.

The Senior Coroner is paid by LB Hammersmith and Fulham as the lead
authority for West London. The costs are then split across the other 5
boroughs, Richmond, Hounslow, Hillingdon, Ealing and RB Kingston.

If you are dissatisfied with our response you may ask for a review.  For
details, please refer to the information sent with your original FoI
response.

Yours sincerely
