Burns Candy, Haringey Borough Council

Ms Dumigan

Thank you for your request for information under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 received on 21st November 2013.

My response to your enquiry is as follows:

1. How many unaccompanied asylum seeking children are looked after by
Haringey Children's Services?

A. There are 35 unaccompanied asylum seeking children who are currently
looked after by Haringey Children’s Services. The majority are male.

·         How many are living in borough?

            A. 22 are living in the borough.

·         How many are living out of borough and in which boroughs are
they living?

            A. 13 are living outside Haringey.  They are placed
respectively: 9 in neighbouring boroughs and 4 in East London boroughs.

How many are in each ward?

      A.  5 are in White Hart Lane ward.

4 are in Seven Sisters ward.

7 are in Bruce Grove ward.

3 are in Tottenham Green ward.

3 are in other wards in Haringey

2. How many former unaccompanied asylum seeking children are looked after
by Haringey in leaving care support?

A. There are 33 former unaccompanied asylum seeking children who are
currently supported by our service.

Of these -

·         What is the number of males and females?

            A. The majority of these young people are male.

·         How many are living in borough?

          A.  23 are living in the borough

·         How many are living out of borough and in which boroughs are
they living?

          A. 10 young people are living outside Haringey

How many are in each ward?

A. We cannot provide figures for those wards with numbers of young people
which total less than 4, but for the higher numbers they are as follows:

       4 are in Northumberland ward.

5 are in Bruce Grove ward.

2 are in Tottenham Green ward.

4 are in St Anne’s ward

6 are placed in Lower and Upper Edmonton (Enfield)

3) How many unaccompanied asylum seeking children are living in Haringey
out of borough from another borough?

A. We are unable to confirm how many unaccompanied asylum seeking children
who are placed by other boroughs are living in Haringey.  We are notified
when a looked after child is placed in a placement in Haringey but   the
referral we receive does not specify whether or not the child is an
unaccompanied asylum seeking child.
