Subject: UKYP and Political roles for Young people in Newham
We write with regard to your recent enquiry for information held by the Council under
the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Request
I Would like to know what Youth Political Initiatives LBN has taken and why Newham
no longer has MYP's representing them in the UK youth Parliament.
I would also like to know why the Young Mayor of Newham is no longer elected and
what Newham plans on doing to increase the roles in politics for the Young People in
Newham.
Response
Your request asks for opinion on policy choices rather than for factual information
held by the Council.
However, the decision to stop this activity was taken in 2017, but the Council is
committed to encouraging a participatory democracy
