UK Threat Level being Raised to Critical

Dear Ministry of Defence,

After the tragic Manchester Bomb attack Theresa May announced that the national threat level will be raised to Critical.

Would this mean the British Armed Forces will be assisting police in counter terrorism roles?

Would there be likely to be another 1980 Iranian Hostage siege scenario where the Special Air Service got involved?

Would mainly the Royal Military Police intervene on terrorist threats?

What other regiments/corps be involved in this? Such as the Rifles or Grenadier Guards for an example?

Or would it only be Special Forces taking part in counter terrorism roles as they are already specialised in this kind of role as they performed in 1980?

Yours faithfully,

Deniz O

Dear Ministry of Defence,
