UK Five Countries Conference High Value Data Sharing Protocol Database

Waiting for an internal review by Home Office of their handling of this request.

Dear Home Office,

I would like to know from what database in the UK other Five Countries Conference (FCC) countries can obtain fingerprint and other biometric data. According to a Privacy Impact Assessment (Link:https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/sy..., it is the ' Immigration and Asylum Fingerprint System (IAFS)'. However, upon further research this system has now been replaced by the 'Immigration Asylum Biometric System (IABS)'.

Could you provide information on whether this system contains only the biometric data of those who have applied for a visa/requested asylum in the UK, or whether it contains the details of all those who have been arrested in the UK (i.e. if it acts as an extension of the Police National Computer)?

Yours faithfully,
Johann Eriksson

Dear Home Office,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Home Office's handling of my FOI request 'UK Five Countries Conference High Value Data Sharing Protocol Database'.

You stated that 'The records contained in IABS
have been obtained and are used for immigration purposes'. Could you clarify what 'immigration purposes' means exactly in this situation and specify from which sources such records would be obtained from? Does this mean the fingerprints/other records collected during all/some visa applications, and/or those collected during entry into the UK etc. etc.? Thanks.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/u...

Yours faithfully,
Johann Eriksson

Dear Home Office,

I made a request for an internal review of FOI request 39427 on the 17th of May, and have not received any reply yet from the HO. The request is copied below for your reference.

You stated that 'The records contained in IABS have been obtained and are used for immigration purposes'. Could you clarify what 'immigration purposes' means exactly in this situation and specify from which sources such records would be obtained from? Does this mean the fingerprints/other records collected during all/some visa applications, and/or those collected during entry into the UK etc. ?

Finally, you do not directly confirm what is the database used by the UK in respect to the Five Country Conference biometric data exchange. Please confirm whether it is indeed the IABS and whether other databases are used. Thanks.

Yours faithfully,
