Dear Home Office,
Please could you respond to the following:
1) Please can you provide us with a copy of the Home Office UK Ancestry Policy in place on 1 August 2006.
2) Were there any transitional arrangements put in place for those with leave under UK Ancestry at the time of the change to the settlement rules (i.e. from 4 years to 5 years). In our situation a grant of entry clearance under UK Ancestry for four years was followed by a second grant of five years. When would they have been eligible for settlement? If only required one more year to complete five years, why were there grants of five years instead of just a grant of a further 12 months?
3) When applying on 1 August 2006, at PSC Birmingham for a same day decision, would a decision/grant letter always be issued or would just the passport have been endorsed? (Biometric cards were not yet in place then).
Thank you for contacting the Home Office with your request.
This has been assigned to a caseworker (case ref 48099). We will aim to send you a full response by 14/05/2018 which is twenty working days from the date we received your request.
