Dear Mr Campbel
Freedom of Information Request
Thank you for your request for information.
Your request has been processed in accordance with Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) Analyst has provided the following response -
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service currently utilise the Home Office Incident Recording Systems
(IRS) to record attendance at incidents. This system uses a series of predetermined categories to record
data and is used by UK Fire and Rescue Services to provide consistent statistical returns to the Home
Office.
I ran a query for Primary and Secondary School UFAS incidents and then ran a query for anything that
has ‘School’ in the address that wasn’t recorded as the previously mentioned property types and that is
the data I’ve used for this response.
This isn’t a straightforward request due to both issues with the address of schools and property type
selected by ops in IRS –
Some School names aren’t in the addresses, so I had to do a manual google search to locate the
school’s name.
Addresses are ‘xxxx School’ but property type has been selected as nursery and some
addresses are ‘xxxx School Nursery’ and property type has been selected as’ Infant/Primary
school’.
Some of the incidents pul ing back are for other education type premises - like pupil services etc
Some Incidents are in school premises have community centres attached so we won’t know
which part of the building was affected.
Please find attached a spreadsheet as per explanation shown above.
