UEA Paramedic DipHE - Documentation
Dear Health Education East of England,
1. Please could you supply any and all documentation presented to Health education East of England by the University of East Anglia when applying for accreditation for the Paramedic science DipHE course. I am particularly interested in documentation surrounding the assessment process including OSCEs.
2. Could you please inform me the number of OSCE exams which were communicated to HEE to enable UEA to gain approval to run this course and the details of these individual OSCEs.
Yours faithfully,

Response
Health Education England (HEE) does not hold the information you have
requested for either question one or question two.
Health Education England does not receive documents for approval for the
accreditation of this education programme – this process would have been
completed between the University and the Health and Care Professions
Council (HCPC). At the point where this programme was tendered for, the
following was submitted by University of East Anglia in relation to
assessment during the course of this programme. However, this was subject
to development by the university and subsequent approval by the HCPC
following the award of the tender as this was not a function programme at
the time the tender was completed.
The programme will be designed with
appropriate level 5 outcomes for underpinning
knowledge and understanding, attitudinal and
professional aspects (mapped to the NHS
Constitution) and the paramedic skills
required to successfully meet the HCPC and
CoP requirements. These outcomes will be
measured in practice to the level of
competence within the Practice Assessment
How will your organisation Document (PAD) and within a range of valid
ensure that learning and assessments for example OSCEs, ePortfolio
development of the programme evidence, oral/written examinations
participants will translate (including SafeMedicate© drug calculations
to into real practical and medicine management), case
measurable outcomes studies/coursework. In order to prepare
students (as with the BSc Paramedic Science
Programme) there will be a well-planned
formative assessment strategy enabling
students to receive frequent and constructive
feedback from a range of sources and methods.
No students will be eligible to apply for
HCPC registration unless they have met the
standards required in all summative
assessments of theory and practice.
I hope that this information is of use. If you are dissatisfied with the
