UCAT statistics for International students applying for MBChB Medicine & How interviews will be conducted for 2021 entry applicants
Dear University of Manchester,
1. Regarding the table of analysis of the average UCAT scores achieved by applicants of MBChB Medicine (5 years) posted on bmh.manchester.ac.uk , can you confirm whether the statistics of the 'shortlisted' section is solely based on the achievements of home/ EU students, or is a combination of both international and home applicants?
2. Please can you also separately provide the average UCAT scores for International students who were 'shortlisted' for the MBChB Medicine in the last 2 admission cycles, in the same table format as posted on bmh.manchester.ac.uk .
3. Please can you confirm whether the interviews for shortlisted international applicants of the MBChB Medicine (ENTRY IN 2021) will be conducted in Malaysia, or whether they will go 'virtual' as a result of the pandemic.
Yours faithfully,
Tee De You

Dear Tee De You,
Thank you for your request for information received by The University of
Manchester on 18 August 2020 which was as follows:
1. Regarding the table of analysis of the average UCAT scores achieved by
applicants of MBChB Medicine (5 years) posted on bmh.manchester.ac.uk ,
can you confirm whether the statistics of the 'shortlisted' section is
solely based on the achievements of home/ EU students, or is a combination
of both international and home applicants?
2. Please can you also separately provide the average UCAT scores for
International students who were 'shortlisted' for the MBChB Medicine in
the last 2 admission cycles, in the same table format as posted on
bmh.manchester.ac.uk .
3. Please can you confirm whether the interviews for shortlisted
international applicants of the MBChB Medicine (ENTRY IN 2021) will be
conducted in Malaysia, or whether they will go 'virtual' as a result of
the pandemic.
Please accept my apologies for the delay in our response. The University
has now considered your request and our response can be found below.
1. The tables on our website provide data for all applicants. We use
the same interview shortlisting process for overseas and UK applicants
therefore it is not useful to maintain two sets of statistics.
2. The same UCAT threshold listed on our website is applied to both
Home and Overseas applicants.
The lowest total cognitive test score* from a candidate invited to
interview for A106 from our overseas applicant pool was 2510 (this
applicant scored a Band 2 on the SJT). The lowest individual UCAT SJT
score invited to interview was Band 3. The mean UCAT score for overseas
students was 2774.
*Please note that this excludes applicants where UCAT is not used as part
of the applicant screening process (those entering in Year Three of the
programme from St Andrews or IMU, or Year One of the programme from the
internal transfer and international foundation programmes). You should
also note that it is possible for an applicant to change fee status during
the application process (for example from Overseas to Home).
3. This is an admissions question; the answer is freely available on
our website in the ‘interviews’ section:

I trust this information is of use to you.
