Dear Department for Work and Pensions,
I understand from your reply to Roberta Baker’s FoI request, your ref: FoI 4639, that it is not mandatory for the claimant to provide the required work search evidence via their journal and that it is not mandatory for the claimant to upload their CV onto the journal, either. The claimant must, however, be able to provide written evidence of their work search and the claimant must also be able to show evidence of a completed and up to date CV.
However, I was told last week by my work coach that claimants can now be compelled to provide evidence of their work search via their UC journal via the request being made by a work coach via the To-Do’s section of the UC journal, under threat of the claimant being sanctioned if they fail to comply. Please provide me with any recorded information held by the DWP, which states it is now a legal or mandatory requirement for claimants to use the journal for these purposes or that claimants can be compelled to do this via the To-Do's section of the UC journal.
I appreciate this request has been made before but my work coach has told me it is now a legal, i.e. mandatory, requirement for claimants to use the journal for the aforementioned purposes. I would appreciate some written clarification on this matter. Thank you.
